I spent the first half of my professional life using my BA in business, and working in commercial lending.  After going back to school for my MA in Counseling Psychology I have spent the last three years as a paid volunteer for AmeriCorps and the Child Abuse Prevention Council of Shasta County (CAPCC) as a case manager and home visitor, while also providing therapy at a few different non-profit counseling centers.

I have provided therapeutic services to kindergartners through adolescents both in the school setting, agency office, and in the client's home.  I really enjoy working with couples and families, and have completed apx 2000 intern hours.  I'm also accredited in Triple P, levels 2 & 3 (Positive Parenting Program).  

I enjoy working with tweens and teens, and their families!  It's such a confusing time when the way of parenting that has always worked during their childhood seems to be backfiring.  The tween/teen and the parents are both frustrated, confused, and feel misunderstood.  Helping families communicate through these confusing years of boundary shifting is something that I have experience and passion in doing.  It takes a village to raise a child, but the village starts at home.

I believe that no one is perfect.  We all have burdens we carry, guilt for doing something or avoiding another, and a longing to be 'more' than we are. It's the ambivalence of what we do with those feelings that can weigh us down. Helping to lead people to their 'a-ha' moments, and then helping them make a plan of action to carry out these revelations is one of many goals in my therapeutic room.
