Course Description

Preverbal Post Traumatic Stress Disorder: Road to Recovery for the Individual and Significant Others Using Mindfulness and Body Awareness in Treatment, with Roland Vallerand, LMFT & Daniel Nauman. 
Daniel will share his experience as someone with PTSD as related to early sexual abuse. His husband, Roland will explore both the clinical aspects of the case and his personal 
experience as the partner of someone recovering from the trauma. 
 
Roland's background is in addiction counseling as well family therapy. This has included group counseling, psychodrama groups, family work for inpatient hospital programs and outpatient treatment with focus on cognitive behavioral therapy as well as educational presentations, codependency and boundary training, and emergency room crisis counseling. 
 
Daniel is a Level II Reiki Practitioner and has done presentations on recovery from early childhood trauma to social work students at Cal State Chico. 
 
Learning Objectives 
- Recognizing Symptoms of PTSD with a focus on ages 0 to 36 months 
- How to use differential diagnosis during assessment for PTSD 
- Learn how talk therapy can be as re-traumatizing as a physical experience 
- Examine effective mindfulness and body awareness treatment strategies
